Turquoise Butterfly Maiden by Kevin Chapman Sale Clearance

A large rough hewn turquoise butterfly maiden with jet inlaid features carved by Kevin Chapman mounted to a striking green marble base for added security. There is a lot of base rock in this carving – only the maiden’s right wing displays the most prominent turquoise blue coloration. Kevin has incised a corn cob on the front of the butterfly maiden’s body and he carved the hair as a swirl on the left side – adding a clam shell dot where the hair tapers down to a point. The butterfly maiden’s themes are rebirth, beauty, fertility, balance, freedom, and nature. Every spring the butterfly maiden dances from flower to flower, pollinating the fields and flowers and bringing life-giving rain to the desert.
